Account deletion

Account deletion is the removal of an account and the data it holds at the person's request, as distinct from cancelling a subscription, which stops the payment and keeps the record. IZeat lets the customer delete the account themselves from the account page, at any time; a 30-day grace period follows, during which signing in again cancels the deletion, and after which the data is gone.

Deletion is a separate act from leaving a plan: a customer can stop paying and keep reading their food diary, or delete the account and the record with it. The grace period exists because a food history is not something to lose to a moment's impulse or a shared device; it is long enough to change one's mind and short enough to mean what it says. Nothing about food or weight ever leaves the database for analytics before or after.

The two things people want from a tracker they leave are their data and their absence, and most trackers make one or both hard: an export behind a request, a deletion behind a form and a wait. IZeat puts both on the account page. Exporting first is the usual order, and the export is complete.
