Maintenance calories
Maintenance calories are the daily intake at which a person's weight stays the same over time, because what comes in matches what the body uses. IZeat does not estimate maintenance for anyone; it records what was eaten against the target the customer chose, and the assistant, who knows the customer, is the one to discuss where maintenance might sit.
Maintenance is a personal figure that moves with activity, body weight and time, and any formula only approximates it. IZeat stores no formula and prescribes no number: the customer's target is theirs, set by conversation, and IZeat records what an adult sets without blocking or commenting; whether a target is sensible is a conversation for the customer and their assistant, or a clinician.
People often treat maintenance as a fixed number they were once given, when it is a moving one they can only observe. Two weeks of honest records against a steady weight say more than any calculator, and they say it in that person's own life: their portions, their restaurants, their weekends. That is why IZeat keeps the average per recorded day in view and why a day left unlogged is shown as a gap rather than a zero.
Put it into practice: Reading a period.
