Restaurant estimate

A restaurant estimate is a calorie and macro figure reasoned out for a dish nobody weighed, from what the dish is, about how much of it there was, and what it was cooked in. IZeat records a restaurant estimate with the source estimate on every item, after the assistant's questions, and the day's reply says estimated wherever it counts one.

Three questions carry most of the answer: the dish, the portion, the fat. The assistant asks only those that the customer's words leave open, in one short message, then estimates and says it is an estimate. A photo of the plate can name the dish but not the portion or the oil, so it gets the same questions. Where a chain prints calories, the printed figure is kept as read and beats an estimate of the calories; the item still carries one source, an estimate that quotes the menu.

The r/loseit community's own practice is a twenty percent buffer on any model estimate, and its complaint is not the estimate but the estimate that hides. IZeat's answer is to show it: the word estimated in the reply, the mark on the card, the source on the export. A customer who eats out three times a week knows which third of their week is reasoned rather than weighed.

Put it into practice: Estimates and sources.
