Energy balance
Energy balance is the relation between the energy taken in as food and the energy a body uses: intake above expenditure stores energy, intake below draws on stores, and equal keeps weight steady. IZeat records one side of the balance, intake, with a source on every figure, and compares it to a target that stands in for the other side, chosen by the customer.
The intake side can be recorded honestly; the expenditure side can only be estimated, and IZeat estimates nothing. The target the customer sets is their answer to the expenditure question, made with their assistant if they want, and every day is compared to it. Over weeks, the period summary's average against the target and the customer's own scale, outside IZeat, together say which way the balance went.
Energy balance is simple as a sentence and hard as a practice, because the intake side is where people under-count without noticing: the oil, the portion, the weekend. IZeat's rules, grams only, questions before estimates, a source on every item, exist to make that side as true as a record can be. The other side stays an estimate, and the product says so instead of printing it.
Put it into practice: Reading a period.
