Omega-3

Omega-3 fats are a family of polyunsaturated fats found mostly in oily fish, walnuts, flax and chia, that the body cannot make and has to eat. IZeat counts omega-3 inside an item's total fat, at the same energy as any fat, and does not record the family separately; a label or the assistant can say how much a portion carried.

Omega-3s are a sub-family of unsaturated fat, and no everyday label lists them as a line, so there is nothing for a record to store honestly. The grams of fat in 150 g of salmon are recorded from a reference table; the share of them that is omega-3 is knowledge the assistant has and can share, not a figure IZeat keeps.

Omega-3 is the kind of nutrient a tracker can pretend to count and then show as zero on most days, which teaches the customer to distrust the record. IZeat keeps the four figures every food has and says which ones it does not keep. A customer who wants to eat fish twice a week can see in their week whether they did; the record holds the salmon, not the fatty acid.
