CIQUAL

CIQUAL is the French food composition table published by ANSES, the national food safety agency: reference figures per 100 g for the foods eaten in France, generic rather than branded. IZeat's reference values come from the assistant's knowledge of standard composition tables, CIQUAL among the ones it has read, and the item is recorded as reference rather than under any single table's name.

A composition table answers a different question from a label: not this brand's yoghurt but a plain food, cooked rice, raw carrot, grilled chicken, measured across samples. That is what a reference value is, and CIQUAL is the natural table for foods eaten in France, as USDA's FoodData Central is for the United States. IZeat's rule is that a table is queried by the product itself only with its licence read, dated and archived.

Composition tables are where trackers quietly blend sources: a generic chicken figure from one table next to a branded one from a label, with no way for the customer to tell. IZeat keeps the source on every item precisely so that a table's value reads as reference and a label as label. The honest state is written here rather than hidden.
