Macro split

A macro split is the share of a day's calories planned to come from protein, carbohydrate and fat, written as three percentages or as three gram targets. IZeat keeps a target in grams for any of the three macros the customer chooses to set, and the day report the assistant can show draws the share of the day's energy each one actually supplied, next to the day card's bars of grams eaten against grams targeted.

IZeat stores gram targets, not percentages, because grams are what a meal is recorded in; a customer who thinks in percentages asks their assistant to turn them into grams for their calorie target once. The ring in the day report is drawn from the conventional energy factors, 4 kcal per gram of protein and carbohydrate and 9 per gram of fat, and shows what the day was, next to the bars that show each macro against its target.

Splits are where diets differ and where IZeat stays quiet: it will hold a high-carbohydrate split or a low one with the same neutrality, and it flags nothing about the balance. What it does show is whether the split that was planned is the split that was eaten, which is the fact a tracker that only totals calories cannot give.

Put it into practice: Reading a day.
