Diet break

A diet break is a planned period of one or two weeks at maintenance calories in the middle of a longer deficit, before the deficit resumes. IZeat records a diet break as a new target from a date, and the period summary shows the weeks before, during and after with the target drawn as a step line where it changed.

The customer sets a calorie target at maintenance calories from the day the break starts and a deficit target from the day it ends; each day keeps the target that was in force. The target timeline in a period summary makes the break readable months later, which a single running average would hide.

Breaks are where people lose the thread of their own record, because a change of target feels like a reset. In IZeat nothing resets: the meals keep being recorded, the targets keep their dates, and the period summary reads the whole story with its gaps and its steps. A customer can ask their assistant what the four weeks around a break looked like and get the numbers, not a memory.

Put it into practice: Targets and profile.
