Fibre

Fibre is the part of plant carbohydrate that the body does not digest into glucose, listed on labels as dietary fibre, and counted at a lower energy value than other carbohydrate where it is counted at all. IZeat does not record fibre today; when a label shows it, the assistant can read it out, but only calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat are stored for each item.

Fibre sits inside the carbohydrate line on a US label and outside it on an EU label, which is the main reason two labels for the same food can disagree on carbohydrate. IZeat stores the carbohydrate figure as printed and leaves fibre to the label. Micronutrients and fibre beyond what the open food tables give for free are among the things IZeat deliberately does not build yet.

Fibre is the figure people ask about once their protein is settled, because it is the one that changes how full a day feels. Until IZeat records it, the honest answer is the label in the customer's hand, and the assistant reading it. Recording fibre would add a fifth figure to every item and to every reply, and IZeat has chosen four; a customer who wants it reads it on the label.
