Change history

A change history is the list of every change made to a record, with what was before, what came after and when, kept so that the current state can always be explained. IZeat keeps a change history on every meal: each log, correction, undo and restore is an entry in the meal's journal, and the assistant can read it back when the customer asks what was recorded and when.

The history is not a second copy of the data; it is the trail beside it. The day is computed from the current rows, and the journal explains how those rows came to be. A deleted meal is soft-deleted, so it can be restored, and a restored meal returns with its journal intact. Nothing is destroyed by a correction, which is what makes correcting safe.

A history matters most to the customer who doubts a number: a lunch that seems high, a day that does not match memory. Asking the assistant what happened returns the sequence rather than a shrug. It also holds the product to its own rule that a meal is never silently modified: the journal is where that rule can be checked.

Put it into practice: Undo and restore.
